Gray Lewis Studios is a New York City–based decorative arts and wall finishing atelier specializing in bespoke, hand-crafted surfaces. Drawing on formal training in the decorative arts, we create custom interiors using lime and Venetian plasters, layered paint systems, glazes, gilding, and specialty wall coverings.

Our process is rooted in craftsmanship and an understanding of how materials behave in real spaces. Every finish begins with thoughtful sampling and careful substrate preparation, then develops through a sequence of hand-applied layers—built up slowly to achieve depth, texture, and nuance that cannot be replicated by manufactured products. From quiet, architectural limewashes to polished plasters and richly detailed glazes, each surface is tailored to the design intent and the character of the room.

We collaborate with designers, architects, and homeowners on residential, commercial, and site-specific projects throughout New York and beyond. The studio’s work emphasizes material sensitivity, subtlety, and a high level of detail at every stage.
